Last year we commissioned an original painting by Patrick Biggs as our 2018 Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup poster. This year, we are launching a contest for fans to submit their own original artwork to be the new 2019 poster! Interested? Keep reading!

What we are looking for:

A beautiful piece of original work created by you that represents the sport of downhill or super-G alpine skiing at Lake Louise Ski Resort in the majestic Canadian Rockies and Banff National Park! 

It can be any two-dimensional creative medium including drawing, painting, photography or mixed media. The only catch – it has to be an original! The winning submission will be made into a poster for the 2019 Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup!

We will review all submissions and reach out to the winner. Stay tuned to all of our social media’s  to see the winner!

Original artwork will be sold at our 2019 Lake Louise Audi FIS SKi World Cup event, during the silent auction with proceeds split with the winning artist and Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup event.

Submission criteria:

    • Create an original piece that has not been submitted to any other contests, commissioned or sold. 
    • Submissions must be a two-dimensional creative medium including drawing, painting, photography or mixed media.
    • No logos, company brands, event dates or information to be included. Elements to provide information will be added in the poster development process.
  • Entries will be accepted from all over the world.

Here’s what you need to know.

Rules for submissions: This is an international competition where artists must hold the copyright . Entries will be disqualified if they have any copyrighted images or element. Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of two unique entries. Winning artwork will be shipped to the event at the cost of Winterstart Events Ltd. All other entries will be part of an online exhibit. 

Mediums accepted:  Two-dimensional pieces including drawing, painting, photography or mixed media.

Age requirement:
This on-line juried art competition is open to all artists ages four years and older. Parent or guardian permission is required for submission 17 and younger.

Copyright:  Pieces submitted must be your own original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s material. If your submission infringes upon another’s copyright it will be disqualified. Upon submitting  to this competition, you are solely responsible for any infringement. The artist retains all copyrights to their artwork without exception.

Non-exclusive permissions: By entering this competition, you are granting us a non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce images of your artwork on for the 2019 event poster and other printed materials, the website, social media channels, in our newsletters, and in the marketing of the competition and event to the general public. Artwork will not be used for any other purpose than that which is stated here. Entries may be displayed on the website and social media channels associated with the event. Each entry becomes part of the public, historical  and archival online contest catalog. It can be removed one year after the event upon request.

File sizes and formats: Images are best represented at 1920px on the lowest side and at a resolution of at least 150dpi. The acceptable file formats are: jpg, gif, and png.

Image size: 1754 × 2481 pixels – A3 (11.69” x 16.54” / 297mm x 420 mm) @ 150-ppi
Layout : portrait preferred
Maximum file size: 2MB
Name your image: firstname_lastname_2019.jpg

Judging criteria:

Does the submitted artwork fit the theme of the Lake Louise Audi FIS SKi World Cup?
Is there a creative interpretation of the Lake Louise Audi FIS SKi World Cup?
Is the work unique and interesting?
Is there overall quality and is the medium being used effectively?
Does the work impact the viewer in relationship to the Lake Louise Audi FIS SKi World Cup?
Does the work stand on its own as a complete and outstanding creative image?
Does the composition and design meet the judging criteria?
The entries will be shortlisted by the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup art jury and the winner will be chosen. The decision of poster selection will be based on relevance, authenticity and innovation.

Original work: We reserve the right to request proof that your entry is your original artwork. Non-compliance to this rule will be a disqualification of your entry. All submissions cannot be submitted or used fully or partially elsewhere. The winning artwork cannot be reused commercially anywhere in full or in part.

Submission deadline:
Artwork may be submitted up until midnight MST on September 1, 2019. No artwork will be accepted past the posted deadline.  Winning artwork will be announced September 15, 2019.

The entry process:

Step 1. Have your files ready to upload before you start the submission process. Select the contest you wish to enter and click the “Submit Your Art” button on our website Fill out the entry form with the artist information. Select the “Number of Entries” you want to enter and “Submit”.

On the submission form, you will be asked to provide an artist statement about the artwork you are submitting.

Step 2. In the upload form fill out the information about the artwork you are submitting and select your image, then click the “Upload Your Art and Continue” button. Continue until all of your entries are submitted. The artist will receive a confirmation email

Winning artwork: The winner will be credited on the poster, event website and media and may include an artist photo and biography. The winning original artwork will be sold during the 2019 event through silent auction. The proceeds from the sale of the original artwork will be split between the winning artist and the event.
